AKRON, OH, USA – May 4, 2012 The Smithers Group announced today an agreement to purchase the Environmental Sciences Group (ESG) from Covance Laboratories. Providing world-class scientific and regulatory expertise in product registration and risk assessment, the Environmental Sciences Group serves clients in the agrochemical, pharmaceutical, industrial chemical and animal health industries.
Based in Harrogate, UK, ESG has been providing services for over 35 years. ESG employs approximately 60 employees.

The agreement, signed May 2, is expected to close in 30 days.
