Smithers and Victrex will host a free webinar, which will discuss the evolution of Magma’s m-pipe® TCP and two potential engineering solutions to the challenges described: the Hybrid Flexible Pipe and the TCP Riser Tower. The qualification approach will be covered and the specific selection of PEEK polymer for use in this geographical region will be discussed and reviewed with expert opinion from TFMC and Magma.

This webinar will include information and expert commentary on:

  • The evolution of Magma’s m-pipe® TCP
  • The qualification approach and specific selection of PEEK polymer for use in this geographical region
  • Potential engineering solutions to the challenges described: the Hybrid Flexible Pipe and the TCP Riser Tower

Your presenters:

Dr Geoff Small, Head of Technology: Energy, Victrex

Geoff has worked in the plastics industry for more than 35 years. Having attained his PhD at the University of Bath, he worked for several years at the National Physical Laboratory at Teddington, Middlesex, evaluating the effects of Physical Ageing on amorphous polymers, before moving to ERA Technology in Leatherhead to work on a range of projects spanning aerospace composites, earth reinforcing membranes and industrial adhesive systems. Geoff has a specific interest in long-term performance of polymers and environmental degradation. He is a BSi nominated member of the ISO committee developing the ISO 23936 group of standards for polymers in contact with media used in Oil and Gas.

Mick Mullan, Analysis & Qualification Manager, Magma Global

Mick is responsible for design, analysis and qualification activities relating to m-pipe system. He works on installation, pipe body and end fitting, and material/ product testing and interpretation of results. He is responsible for developing design and analysis processes and tools. He provides input to and interpretation of relevant design and qualification standards.

Thomas Epsztein, Composite Materials Project Manager, TechnipFMC

Thomas joined TechnipFMC in 2007 as material engineer. He specialized in thermoplastics used in flexible pipes (mechanical properties, SC CO2 applications and permeation). Between 2011 and 2016, Thomas was R&D Project Manager in charge of the qualification of new materials: PVDF monolayer (CoflonXD), Anti-H2S layer. He was strongly involved in the qualification of Flexible Pipes for HPHT application (17.5kPsi, 150°C). Since 2016, Thomas works as Composite Materials Project Manager within the Flexibles Product Line and EMS organization. In 2017, Thomas was nominated Expert in non-metallic materials.
