The global security papers market is about one million tonnes and is declining in volume by about 0.3% annually, while the spending is increasing by about 2%. In 2020, there is an increased demand for banknotes, but overall paper volume is down for other grades. The forecast for 2019–25 is spending growth of 1.8% CAGR overall, but volumes are expected to decline at -0.2% CAGR.

In 2015–19 there was growth in spending of between 3 and 7% CAGR on these technologies.
