Marjorie E. Dix

Research Director, Chemistry, Environmental Risk Sciences

Marjorie E. Dix is the Research Director, Chemistry, Environmental Risk Sciences, where she provides technical oversight for Ecotox Support Chemistry and Product Chemistry. This encompasses proposals and client communication, training and mentoring team members, and keeping current with regulatory and scientific developments, technical reports, and quality reviews. She is an expert in analytical method development, regulatory analytical testing, and many analytical systems (including HPLC, GC, GC-MS, and LC-MS/MS).

When she came to Smithers in 1992 after earning a BS from Providence College in Rhode Island, Marge’s first full-time position was as a Chemist II in the Environmental Fate department. Since then has covered a broad range of roles within the Chemistry department, including Principal Investigator, Study Director,  and more involvement in Fate, Ecotox Support Chemistry, and Product Chemistry.  She is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Alongside her scientific pursuits, she enjoys cooking, swimming, and reading.
