UK Expertise in Packaging and Materials Testing
Nicki leads Smithers’ Packaging and Materials Testing Services, helping clients address complex packaging challenges spanning materials development, performance testing and failure investigation. Based at the Smithers Leatherhead, UK laboratories, she leads teams supporting clients throughout the product lifecycle, from R&D and material selection through to quality, specification and regulatory requirements.
With over 30 years’ experience in materials testing and analytical chemistry, Nicki brings extensive technical expertise to her role. Her background includes product and packaging failure investigation, performance and compositional compliance testing, reverse engineering of coatings and packaging structures, and analytical method development and validation.
Performance Testing and Failure Investigation
Nicki has particular experience in the chemical and physical assessment of consumer products and food packaging, including NIAS, PFAS, ink migration, odour and taint, and compositional testing to support requirements including California Proposition 65, PPWR and RoHS.
Her technical background also supports complex product and packaging failure investigations, helping clients understand material and packaging performance, identify the causes of problems and determine appropriate approaches to testing and assessment.
