Foreign materials in Cannabis refer to any non-desirable substances that may unintentionally contaminate the product, such as insects, mold, hair, plastic fragments, or metal particles. Detecting and eliminating foreign materials is crucial for consumers and in some other states, comply with regulatory standards.

Visual inspection is the most common method employed in the Cannabis industry for foreign material detection. Trained personnel visually examine the product for visible contaminants under magnification.

At present, the Arizona Department of Health Services does not require foreign materials testing, but our Arizona Cannabis testing laboratory offers this service as an informational test for our clients.
