Sam has more than twenty years’ experience in learning, training and professional development across engineering, manufacturing, transport and other regulated environments. She specialises in identifying skills and knowledge gaps and translating complex technical information into clear, practical and effective learning.Her experience spans learning strategy, instructional design, assessment, blended and digital learning, and the development of structured learning pathways. With a background in engineering, quality and continuous improvement, Sam brings a practical, problem-solving approach to learning and capability development.
At Smithers, Sam leads the development and management of learning programmes covering polymers, rubber and materials technology and their practical applications. These programmes help technical professionals build knowledge and understanding around material selection, processing, performance and real-world application, while supporting effective knowledge and skills development within organisations.

Sam holds a Level 5 qualification in Education and Training, a Professional Diploma in Digital Learning Design, an HNC in Production Engineering and an ONC in Mechanical Engineering. She is also a qualified RTITB Materials Handling Equipment Instructor and ISO 9000 Lead Auditor.
She is bilingual in English and French and has extensive experience developing and delivering learning for UK and international audiences.
