Smithers Invests in New Instrumentation to Support Ecotoxicology Studies

Smithers has invested in new instrumentation at our Wareham, Massachusetts laboratory to support ecotoxicology studies.

The addition of two new 1L diluter units and a new 2L diluter unit increases our capacity to perform Amphibian Metamorphosis Assays (AMA) OECD 231, Fish Short Term Reproduction Assays (FSTRA) OECD 229, Fish Early Life Stage Assays OECD 210, Fish Full Life Cycle (FFLC) Assays OCSPP 850.1500, Fish Sexual Development Assays OECD 234, and Mysid Life Cycle (MLC) Assays OCSPP 850.1350, that support our customers in the AgChem, Pharmaceutical, and Chemistry sectors.

“Specifications for these diluters are based on over 30 years of experience and are designed to allow easier calibration, maintenance, and use by our ecotoxicology study directors that specialize in these study types,” said Gus Zieske, Senior Director of Ecotoxicology.

These systems use fresh water or salt water, based on study design. The addition supports continual improvement and fit-for-purpose equipment design. Clients benefit from equipment built to updated specifications, allowing more precise control of study conditions, and increased capacity for future testing needs.
