Our rubber process analyzer (RPA) can be used to measure the dynamic properties of cured and uncured rubber materials, raw polymers, and polymer compounds. Its capabilities include cure tests, sweep tests, stress relaxation tests, raw polymer characterization, torque measurement, and more. The instrument has excellent temperature controls and high resolution within the extended dynamic range, which allows for more precise data and observation of changes in material properties at lower strains during a strain sweep test. This is especially helpful when testing silica-filled materials, such as tire tread.

Common Standards

  • ASTM D5289 – Standard Test Method for Rubber Property—Vulcanization Using Rotorless Cure Meters
  • ASTM D6204 – Standard Test Method for Rubber—Measurement of Unvulcanized Rheological Properties Using Rotorless Shear Rheometers
  • ASTM D6601 - Standard Test Method for Rubber Properties—Measurement of Cure and After-Cure Dynamic Properties Using a Rotorless Shear Rheometer
  • ASTM D6048 – Standard Practice for Stress Relaxation Testing of Raw Rubber, Unvulcanized Rubber Compounds, and Thermoplastic Elastomers
  • ASTM D7050 – Standard Practice for Rubber from Natural Sources—Sampling and Sorting Bales Based on Predicted Processing Properties
  • ASTM D8059 – Standard Test Method for Rubber Compounds—Measurement of Unvulcanized Dynamic Strain Softening (Payne Effect) Using Sealed Cavity Rotorless Shear Rheometers
    • This standard can be used for research and development purposes to rate and measure dispersion in test batches.
