Smithers and Victrex announce webinar to assess the qualification of m-pipe® and Hybrid Flexible Pipe for deployment in Brazil’s pre-salt region
Victrex and Smithers are to co-host a free webinar to assess the evolution of Magma’s m-pipe® TCP and two potential engineering solutions to the challenges described: the Hybrid Flexible Pipe and the TCP Riser Tower.

Dr Geoff Small, Head of Technology:Energy at Victrex, will be joined by Mick Mullan, Analysis & Qualification Manager at Magma Global, and Thomas Epsztein, Composite Materials Project Manager at TechnipFMC, to present various information on the qualification approach and specific selection of PEEK polymer for use in Brazil’s pre-salt region.

Small, Mullan and Epsztein will discuss the environmental conditions found in the Brazil pre-salt fields that pose a new and unique set of challenges to the industry. Steel-based solutions, including flexibles, may be prone to additional corrosion risks while the extremes of water depth and geology require additional design flexibility. They will also discuss how Thermoplastic Composite Pipes (TCP) offer an attractive alternative solution to these challenges.

During the 45-minute webinar the experts will cover a number of key factors, including the evolution of Magma’s m-pipe® TCP; a discussion and review on the qualification approach and specific selection of PEEK polymer for use in this geographical region; and the potential engineering solutions to the challenges described including the Hybrid Flexible Pipe and the TCP Riser Tower.

There will be a 15 minute Q+A session at the end of the webinar during which participants can raise relevant issues and draw on the speakers’ expertise.

Register for the webinar which is taking place Tuesday 5 November 2019 -10 am BRT / 1pm GMT / 8am EST
