Fibre-based packaging (FBP) is generally understood to be made from natural fibres obtained from growing plants such as trees, wheat and sugarcane. Such fibres can be sustainably produced without any direct reliance on non-renewable feedstocks. Furthermore, FBP can be easily recycled multiple times into new products. They are naturally biodegradable and so do not represent any long-term environmental hazard. FBP has witnessed a boom in market penetration as sustainability remains a key facet of packaging development.
