Summary

This method covers the procedure for using an incline impact tester to replicate and compare shock damage that can occur from rail switching or pallet marshalling impacts of rail cars with standard draft gear.                 

Test Details     

This test is used to evaluate the durability of a container or shipping system (or to compare containers or systems) as it is exposed to sudden shocks and crushing forces that can occur during rail switching or pallet marshalling.

Note: This method should not be used to replicate impact resulting from the switching of rail cars using long-travel draft gear or cushioned underframes. Refer to Method D4003.
